The Wynyard show went well. The cows behaved themselves, the weather was great & the competition friendly. Yaminah came 2nd in her handler class with some very stiff competition. Sarah came 4th in her class & won herself a halter for the Encouragement award. Elsa (Sarah's heifer) has been very nervous when the show stick touched her but Sarah managed to use it on her for the first time! The breed classes were a little disappointing with the age of the classes set out in such a way that Elsa & Esprit were in the senior cow class up against 2 cows with calves at foot. Nevertheless the judge gave very positive comments. Yaminah was unable to stay for the Saturday classes so I took Esprit & Sarah handled Elsa admirably. I have to keep reminding myself that Sarah is only 9 years because she is just showing so much maturity! Sydney (6 years) lead (with my help) Esprit in the Grand Parade which she was rather proud about (after initially being quite scared - she hasn't done much halter work with the cows).
Better go & get the kids to bed.
Bye for now - you never know I may get a third blog in this month!!!
